Zayn is an ordinary Arabic noun turned into a given name. The sources differ only in shading. The word sits on the Arabic root z-y-n, which also produces the verb zayyana, 'to adorn, to decorate, to embellish', so the name carries a sense of something polished and well cared for rather than strength or victory.
